Biography

Simon Robinson:

I make photographs in many different genres but I’m most passionate about street and documentary photography. Why street photography? For me, street photography is more than a genre of photography. It’s an approach to photography and to life. It is how I look at the world and how I see it – even if I don’t have a camera.
I make pictures by intuition, because I need to press the shutter button at that exact moment. I do not plan or stage my photographs, I let life unfold before me and capture the scene as I see it, as I feel it. This is the philosophy I also employ when working on my documentary projects.

I was born in England, brought up in New Zealand and have lived in Scotland since 1996.
